Holy Trinity, Rolleston

Nottinghamshire

Rolleston Church has been here for over 1000 years and has provided a centre for celebrations at times of great joy and for comfort at times of great sorrow.

Everybody, of all denominations, is always welcome to come and worship at Holy Trinity. The usual times of services are listed below, and a board outside the church also shows the time of the next Sunday service.

Usual Service Times

1st Sunday of the Month            10.30 am                Family Eucharist

2nd Sunday                                   9.00 am                Holy Communion

3rd Sunday                                 10.30 am                 All Age Worship

4th Sunday                                    9.00 am                Holy Communion

There are other services elsewhere in the benefice at Morton and Upton at different times.

There is a Sunday Club for the young people of the benefice of Morton, Upton, Fiskerton and Rolleston.  ‘Coffee Time’ is held monthly at Upton for those at home with young children, and Trinity Tots meet in Rolleston Village hall from 10.30 to Noon on Mondays.

The Friends of Holy Trinity organise regular events in the village, and there is an active group of bellringers, who always welcome new members and those who would like to try bellringing, as well as visitors to their practice night on Wednesdays at 7.30pm

This will then be submitted to the Archdeacon and Bishop for approval.

Our Mission Statement

To be the living body of Christ in the village of Rolleston.

As part of the ongoing mission of the church we aim to be open and welcoming to all and engaging with them through worship, community involvement corporately and individually.  To this end the preaching and teaching ministry of the church will continue to encourage and develop the latent gifts of all, in line with the Diocesan Mission Template: Discerning God, Valuing People, Serving the Community and Enabling Change

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2009 onwards

The Parochial Church Council agreed the following at its meeting on

18 March  and will continue to review the plan annually

Discerning God

1 To encourage and facilitate the work of God in this community and beyond.

2 To review our financial commitments and to create a financial plan to enable God’s work.

3 To be prepared to set things down as well as pick them up as we discern together where God is calling us.

Valuing People

1 To support those leading groups etc:

- Trinity Tots

- Sunday Club

- Coffee Time

- Study groups

- Coffee Morning/monthly lunch

- Confirmation

- Lent

2 To encourage and support the Ministry Team and PCC.

3 To discern the gifts of the congregation and others.

4 To enable good Baptism follow up and encouragement of parents to keep the promises made for their children, including bringing them for confirmation.

5 To encourage those leading All Age Worship, and to encourage young people, as well as older people, to attend, through special events, invitations etc.

6 To work with the “Friends of Holy Trinity”, whilst ensuring that funds are raised for the regular work and ministry of the church, as well as for the fabric of the church building.

Serving Community

1 To continue involvement in Coffee Morning and Trinity Tots in Rolleston, and to be involved in the wider Benefice and beyond.

2 To ensure ministry continues by committing to pay parish share in full each year.  This will also value other parishes who will not be required to take on additional financial burdens.

3 To continue plans to improve and maintain the church building, within an overall financial framework which puts the mission of God at the forefront.

4 To continue involvement in support of the Village Hall, with a representative serving on the Management Committee.

5 To continue to use the church building for activities other than worship, by agreement with the Churchwarden and Priest in Charge.

6 to provide a new notice board outside the church.

7 To encourage couples to marry in church, offering them the Benefice leaflet about marriage in church.

Enabling Change

1 With the other churches of the United Benefice to explore working together with the Riverside Group of Parishes.

2 To encourage PCC and church members to have a wider vision of the purpose of ‘church’, with God at the heart.

3 To encourage a deeper spirituality within the congregation, and wider benefice.

4 Encouraging those who financially support the church to continue to do so, and to encourage others to join them, that we may have a sound financial base for the future which enables our mission and ministry to continue and grow.
